Now appearing, in my study…

andreas-feininger-entrance-to-st-patrick-s-visible-across-fifth-avenue-with-atlas-statue-silhouetted-in-foregroundSt. Patrick’s Cathedral and Atlas on Fifth Avenue. What a scene! I am delighted to report that a substantially larger, poster version of the thumbnail contained in this post, now appears in my den, across from my desk. It inspires me to write about the conversation that is, and should continue, taking place. The conversation, alluded to on this blog, is between Gospel Christianity and Atheist Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand. Of course, St. Patrick’s Cathedral represents Christianity and Atlas, in the foreground, represents Objectivism. The time the picture was taken looks about the time Ayn Rand lived in New York City. This spot would not have been too far from where she lived, in mid-town on the East Side. Of course, it’s much easier to see on the larger version, but the building to the right is Sak’s Fifth Avenue. The building in between St. Pat’s and Saks, is 437 Madison Avenue (50th and Madison), where I used to work.
It’s a wonderful scene, full of symbolism for me. Noticeably, the symbolism could only come together in a city like New York. The City itself is undeniably a character in Atlas Shrugged.
As always, love to read your thoughts.

  1. AAAAAAAAA! Where did you get a poster of that!?!?!? I WANT IT! That blows my mind! Wish I’d had that as the cover of my Christian Objectivism treatise. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DA MAN!

  2. I’ve been listening to Brother Gregory of His Holy Church on some internet
broadcasts lately. Would he be considered a “Gospel Christian” ?
He has done a lot of biblical research and has found that the Bible has a lot
to say about law and government, and why we’re in the political mess we’re in
